CONTINUATION — FOR THE SITE

Ethan didn’t understand what was happening, but one look in the rearview mirror told him enough: the men behind them weren’t trying to talk.

They were trying to catch her.

The bride’s name was Vanessa.

Between panicked breaths, she explained that her older sister, Natalie, had died eleven months earlier — just hours after her own wedding reception. Natalie’s death had been ruled an accident. She had supposedly fallen from a hotel balcony after drinking too much.

But Vanessa never believed it.

Too many things didn’t make sense. Natalie had been terrified the week before her wedding. She told Vanessa several times that if anything happened to her, she should never trust the groom or his business partners.

Vanessa tried to tell police, but there was no proof.

Then, three weeks before Vanessa’s own wedding, she received an anonymous envelope.

Inside was a hotel keycard sleeve with one room number written on it:

312.

And a note in Natalie’s handwriting:

If he proposes to you too, run. Room 312 has everything.

Vanessa was horrified.

Natalie’s fiancé had been Adrian Cole.

After Natalie died, Adrian vanished for several months.

Then he reappeared, grieving, charming and patient — and slowly got close to Vanessa.

By the time she realized what was happening, she was already engaged to the same man who had once planned to marry her sister.

Vanessa pretended to go through with the wedding because she needed a chance to get into the hotel on the wedding day without raising suspicion.

Just before the ceremony, she slipped away to room 312.

Inside, hidden behind a vent, she found a flash drive, a second phone and a handwritten note from Natalie.

The note explained everything.

Natalie had discovered that Adrian and two business partners were using the hotel to blackmail wealthy guests. Hidden cameras had been placed in several luxury suites. When Natalie threatened to expose them, Adrian convinced everyone she was drunk and unstable.

The flash drive contained video files, payment records and security footage.

Most chilling of all, one clip showed Adrian entering Natalie’s suite on the night she died.

And only Adrian came back out.

Vanessa barely had time to grab the evidence before one of Adrian’s men saw her leaving room 312.

That was why she ran.

That was why she ended up in Ethan’s car.

Ethan drove straight to the nearest police station instead of trying to outrun them forever.

The SUV followed all the way there — but the moment Adrian realized where they were going, he tried to flee.

He didn’t make it.

Police arrested him in the station parking lot after Vanessa handed over the flash drive and Natalie’s phone.

When detectives examined the evidence, the case exploded open.

There were dozens of victims.

Natalie hadn’t died in a drunken accident.

She had been murdered.

And Vanessa had nearly become the next woman Adrian silenced.

Months later, Vanessa stood in another white dress — but this time not as a bride.

She wore it to court on the day she testified against Adrian.

After the sentencing, she walked outside and found Ethan waiting on the courthouse steps.

He smiled when he saw her.

“No car chases today?”

Vanessa laughed for the first time in months.

“No,” she said. “Today I’m finally done running.”

She had entered that wedding believing she was about to marry the wrong man.

Instead, by the end of the day, she had done what her sister never got the chance to do:

she survived long enough to expose him.
